VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

Adoption Counselor

Do you love cats and want to play an important role in helping them find a loving family and furever home?

We are looking for friendly and responsible people who enjoy working with cats and other volunteers. Adoption Counselors talk with the public and help adopt out cats and kittens at our adoption events.

On the job training is provided by a Senior Counselor and you will be working with another volunteer at all times. The majority of our adoption events take place on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm at Pet Supplies Plus in North Wilmington.

We send out a SignUpGenius for each month’s events and you can sign up for the day(s) that work for your schedule.

There is always something to clean! If you have a passion for organization and tidiness, we’d love to hear from you.

Foster homes would really appreciate the occasional help to deep clean cat rooms and equipment.

Our supply coordinator would love help keeping everything organized.

* Great for volunteer hours for Beta Club, Key Club, and National Honor Society (i.e. high schoolers). Minimum time commitment is 3 hours.

We are always looking for assistance answering emails, responding to text messages, and responding to direct messages.

Being able to get back to potential adopters is critical and we have templates for most of the responses we send out.

Occasionally our fosters are unable to transport their cats/kittens to an event or a medical appointment due to work/personal commitments, so we will reach out to other volunteers to help out.

We organize many of our own fundraisers as well as join in with several community events/markets throughout the year to help raise money and awareness for our rescue.

We need friendly, responsible volunteers to help come up with ideas for events, as well as coordinate and work them.

We rely 100% on donations and grants to keep our rescue going. We are in need of someone with grant writing experience to apply for grants on our behalf so that we can continue our mission to save and improve the lives of cats.

Our medical coordinator is located in Leland and frequently needs help with these tasks.

Do you love cats and kittens and want to help them find loving forever homes, but are looking for a more creative way to contribute?

Do you love Facebook, Instagram, and/or TikTok? We have a presence on each and are always in need content creators!

You can go to foster houses and take pics and video to edit and post.

You can also research different feline topics (health, social, fun facts, etc.) to create informational content.

All content goes through a Board Member for approval, but you’ll enjoy lots of creative freedom. This is an ideal opportunity for 16+ with plenty of free time and a flexible schedule.

We constantly need to update our website with adoptable cats and upcoming events. You do not need web design experience for this role, full training will be given.

VOLUNTEER FAQ'S

Can I volunteer to spend time with your cats and kittens?

We do not have one location for our cats and kittens as they are all cared for in different foster homes. However, many of our volunteer roles, such as transporting supplies to adoption events, transporting fosters to events/medical appointments, cleaning, adoption counseling and fostering enable you to spend time with our adorable kitties!

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

Most volunteer positions require you to be 18 but some can be done at a younger age with parent involvement or permission.

Do I have to live in Wilmington to volunteer?

Yes and no! Many of our volunteers live in the areas surrounding Wilmington, such as Hampstead, Leland and Southport. However, all of our adoption events and many of our fundraisers take place in Wilmington so if you don’t live there, you need to be willing/have the means to travel. We also have some volunteer opportunities in Leland.

How do I apply to volunteer?
